C&KE INTRO

This is the first blog entry for Cora & Kayla Explore (cake). Neither of us are particularly social media savvy, and I don't particularly care to learn how to be.... but the folks in our life are interested in our next adventure and have suggested we document it.

Our (immediate) future plans: Kayla is going to finish her current project of converting our single-family house into a duplex, and I am going to finish out this last month at my day job. In August I'll travel to Ecuador for yoga teacher training. In early September Kayla and I will meet my sister in Mexico to get SCUBA certified. After that we intend to live off grid in the woods for awhile with some friends in California. Kayla may have surgery in the wither, but if not we have a lead on a SCUBA/Santa gig for the holidays. Next year? Who knows - maybe we'll work at a ski resort for a minute, or be campsite hosts, or go watch some rocket launches, or work at a national park.

Survival: Some of these opportunities will earn us money, and Kayla can always pick up handy work. Our home will hopefully pay for itself once it's a duplex (we can rent out half and leave our side available as a landing pad, or we can rent out both halves for some passive income). We'll live and travel in our converted Sprinter van (which Kayla converted!) and keep our minds and hearts open for opportunities. Expenses should be low.

Motivation: Capitalism isn't working for us. It's barely working for the people for whom it's working. We're ready to opt out of this system to the extent possible, while remaining somewhat rooted in reality.
